Hopefully the south will rise again one day

The news coming out of New Orleans is worse and worse. Our company is based in the South, and all the other Art Directors have been swapping mails all day about what's going on. So many people talk about family now living with them, and no idea when they can return home or if they have jobs, let alone houses. Gas of course is now high and getting higher every day. I wonder if it will drop off after Labor Day weekend, but...one of the guys in Baton Rouge said that it could be 6 months before oil production is back to normal. Up to 20 oil riggs are either unaccounted for or washed off their moorings. Produce prices will go up soon, as will every thing, but I think that will hit next after gas. There is news that so many people have fled north to Baton Rouge that now there is looting there.

Here is the link to a site one of the southern AD's just sent around. This guy is holed up in a hi-rise in downtown N.O. trying to keep his company's servers going with a generator. He's taking pics and showing all the looting etc. going on. One thing that is rumored to have happened is that half the NO police force just quit, and some have been seen looting.

They're saying it could be 2-3 months before people can return home. I can't even imagine. I haven't heard much about how to donate for the relief effort. It might be because they don't know where or how to get it to the people who need it yet.
